Party time!!

My parents birthday is Saturday and Monday. I am making them dinner and dessert. So I asked them what they wanted. Dad picked the dinner which was pulled pork sandwiches and fries. And mom picked chocolate cake for dessert. My mom's answer is very vague but I came up with a plan. Sorry I can't post it until Saturday because it is a surprise and my mom reads my blog. But let me just say that that dinner is something I have never made before and the techniques I am doing on the cake are something new. Hopefully it will come out amazing!

This weekend

This weekend my mother is hosting a party for thirty one. I still have marshmallows so I am going to make some more of the chocolate marshmallow cookies. My mother is also making chili for the guests which is good because it is so cold. I want to make cornbread but I still don't know about the oven. With the cookies I can monitor them easily. If the oven is still off I will have to make cornbread muffins in my mini muffin maker.

Need help

I have a lot of ingredients that I have to use up soon.  Comment with some recipes that you think I should try with these ingredients. Also they don't have to be used in the same recipe.  I still have lots of marshmallows, pie crust, apples, oranges, and blueberries. Let me know what you come up with.

Chocolate gooyiness

So those close to expiring marshmallows I found an awesome recipe. The marshmallows are cut into thirds and are wrapped around by chocolate cookies. Everyone loved them!

Thinking and planning ahead

My little sister told me about a contest for gingerbread houses in a city next to our town. She wanted to try out this year. I told her I never really made gingerbread cookies and never made a gingerbread house that I can remember. But I always love a challenge so I said sure under one condition. The condition was she had to help me perfect the recipe. She said sure so the rest of this year we are going to make gingerbread houses. I'm so excited for this new challenge.

Plans for the next 2 months

My eldest sister is going to have another baby!! I am so excited for her. I get to plan another baby shower cake. The last one I made I think she was only one to eat it, no one wanted to cut into it.  Also coming up is my parents birthdays.  Their birthdays are only two days apart so I usually make one cake annd dinner for them. This year I asked theem what they wanted and they dont want a cake but didn't tell me what they want instead I am intriged to find out what theey want. Their bithday weekend my little sister is having a sleepover.  Maybe I can experiment some new recipes on her friends if she lets me. This weekend I am trying something with the rest of the marshmallows. Wish me luck!

Marshmallow macarons

I had a lot of marshmallows that will expire soon, who know that marshmallows would expire. So I am making a lot of marshmallow treats and yesterday I made marshmallow macarons. I was hoping they would taste like my mother's recipe but unfortunately no. Apparently she doesn't make them with marshmallows. Well even though I didn't like them my father did and ate them up.

Dinner

I am mostly a baker but I made an awesome dinner last night. It was pork chops with seasoning on them with roasted red potatoes seasoned with salad. I didn't take a picture with the salad but it was very good.

Christmas 2012 part 2

I came home for the holidays and bake cookies. But I came home to a broken oven. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to bake anything for Xmas. Last year my sister gave me mini cupcake maker that plugs into the wall. So this year I made mini cupcakes. I decided that I wanted to make a bunch of new kinds of flavors. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the finished product. I made Oreo frosting that went on a chocolate cupcake, mint frosting on a chocolate cupcake, peanut butter frosting on a butter cupcake, strawberry cupcake with a cheesecake frosting, and a banana cupcake with vanilla frosting. I wanted to make a spice cupcake as well as a red velvet one but with those flavors that I made I had over 300 cupcakes already. I still have some still I couldn't give enough of them away.

Christmas 2012 part 1

Andrea and Jo came over to my apartment Andes made cookies all day. First we made thumbprint cookies with chocolate in the middle and to be festive the chocolate was green. Then we made shortbread cookies with jam. We didn't have a mini cupcake pan so we made due with what we had and they still came out awesome. We stopped for lunch here which seemed to be the wrong idea. We made eggnog cookies but for some reason the recipe we had they smelled delish but the came out as pancakes. We have to find a better recipe for next year. After that we made chocolate chip cookies with candy cane pieces in it. This stuck to the pan. I brought them home since I don't like peppermint and asked how they came out. Everyone loved them they didn't last til Christmas.

An EVEN oven

So I found an even oven and made pumpkin rolls. I bought a pie pumpkin and used that for the pumpkin part and not canned.

Jenn's baby shower cakes 2012

Jenn's theme was monkey. The monkey cake was 3d and really cute. The zombie cake was for her boyfriend who was made to come to the shower. The zombie is eating an eyeball. Then for the guests I made cupcakes; vanilla and chocolate. On top I made chocolate candies. The cupcakes were a hit but I made too many but oh well.

Victoria's birthday cake 2012

This is my sisters birthday cake. She wanted a cake that was about bats and vampires. This cake had flying chocolate bats and gel blood dripping down the side of it. She loved and so did her friends. There were some problems with the bats not staying where i wanted them but it worked out. This year she told me that she wanted a hello kitty cake.

Father's Day 2012

This was for Father's Day 2012. My dad didn't want a cake he wanted a banana cream pie. I made it special by making a chocolate deer and placed on top. He loved it. It came out wonderful.
