This weekend I am hosting a thirty one party which they sell purses and totes. So I was deciding on what to make as food for the guests. I came up with chocolate spritz cookies, no bake cookies, pizza pinwheels, and cornbread muffins with honey in them, and add some chips and drinks. I figured the spritz cookies because it makes so many and I haven't tried making them before. The no bake cookies since everyone that is coming loves them. The pinwheels for actual food/dinner. The honey cornbread muffins since the last party they were such a hit and the chips since who can say no to chips.
Wish me luck on the spritz cookies.

Nutella cookies
My little sister is crazy over Nutella. So I made her some cookies out of them and used the rest of the jar oops don't tell her. They came out great had trouble on the last batch the oven decided to work partially again so the cookies from the last batch were a little over baked but she still ate them. Next time I might add more Nutella because she couldn't taste the hazelnut.

Dinner
I have not been baking this week. So I decided to show you what I made for dinner last night. My family is trying to be healthy so we are cooking everything from scratch for dinners. Last night I made meatloaf but used ground turkey instead. I also made twice baked potatoes for the first time. Then I made salad and peas and green beans. Everyone loved it!

Valentines day part 3
Lastly I made Rice Krispies treat. Something simple I wanted to spice it up. I found somewhere that someone used a packet of kool aid to color and flavor the Rice Krispies treat. Unfortunately I forgot to pick up kool aid so I decided just to dye the marshmallow pink. Then I took a heart cookie cutter and made heart shaped treats. I don't think I will do it again with the cookie cutter because there was so much wasted, my family ate that as well but I don't think it is worth it.

Valentines day part 2
I used a simple peanut butter cookie recipe and bought chocolate hearts to place on top. One lesson I learned is the hearts may look cooled but they are probably not. Since the hearts are placed on after the cookies come out of the oven the don't look warm but the cookie warms them enough so when u place the heart on top it melts a little to stick also the heart is soft and shouldn't be touched until it is completely cooled.

Valentines day part 1
I baked three types of baked goods yesterday for Valentines day. Te first one was sugar cookies. I used three different cookie cutters shaped as hearts. Then I used a flow technique to frost them. It was the first time that I did that technique and it came out awesome. Then I sprinkled some pink sugar on top. I was so happy that the oven worked for these cookies and my other one. I did lose some cookies to the cookie graveyard. That was a term my friend told me once when we had some broken cookies and it stuck. I think that they got stick was because of the pan I was using; I think it was old and ha cut in it from other uses. That's okay though my family was not allowed to eat the cookies until today so they ate the ones from the graveyard.

Valentines day prep
I know it has been a week since my last post but I have been busy. Thursday it is valentines day and I'm excited. I am going to try some new techniques and if it works I will post a video on how to do it. You will have to wait til Thursday to find out though. I am planning in making cookies, candy and Rice Krispies treats that are pink and heart shaped. Let's hope that the oven works enough to make cookies.

Busy weird weekend
My parents birthday weekend just past. I was so excited to make their cake and try some new techniques but life throws curve balls. This time I was so sick from a bug I felt so achy and drained on Thursday and Friday I was worried about making their dinner and dessert on Saturday. Friday I felt bad for the people I worked for I probably was no help at all. I went to bed real early on Friday and got up 12 hours later. My body didn't feel like I slept that long.
Besides that the oven is still working when it wants to so baking the cake was interesting. Also my technique that I wanted to try was freezing the frosting that I made a design on wax paper so it would go on the cake and looked like I free handed it. I don't know what went wrong my frosting didn't freeze so I had to throw that idea away. I piped happy birthday on the cake and decorated it with dots. Not my best but the flavor of the very chocolately cake made up for it.
